UTStarcom Appoints David King Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing

ALAMEDA, Calif., March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UTStarcom, Inc.
(Nasdaq: UTSI), a global leader in IP-based, end-to-end networking solutions
and services, today announced the appointment of
David King as its new senior
vice president of sales and marketing, underlining the Company's commitment to
global growth. In his new role, King will be responsible for all aspects of
UTStarcom's global sales and marketing efforts outside of Mainland
China.
King will report to Mike Sophie, chief operating officer (COO), and will lead
the development, implementation and execution of sales and marketing
strategies to drive the growth of UTStarcom's sales in both new and existing
markets.

A seasoned telecommunications industry executive with experience in sales,
marketing, and business and channel development, King has proven expertise in
driving exceptional growth and revenue generation through strategic sales for
both established and emerging telecommunications companies. Most recently,
King was the CEO at Visual Wireless where he secured business with top-tier
operators from around the world. Prior to that, as vice president and general
manager of wireline systems at Ericsson, based in Stockholm, Sweden, he was
responsible for the company's global wireline infrastructure business.

Before joining Ericsson, King completed his MBA at London Business School

the U.S. Prior to his MBA, he was an officer in the
Royal Marines Officer.

The appointment of
David King follows the announcement of Ari Bose, former
VP and CIO at 3Com, as UTStarcom's CIO. The appointments of King and Bose
build on UTStarcom's strategy for growth in international sales and follow the
opening of the company's EMEA Headquarters in Paris and its debut at the
leading wireless technologies event, the 3GSM World Congress and Exhibition,
in February.
